Covert Action
METHADONE AND SUBOXONE
Covert Action is accredited by both the state and federal government and closely follow their guidelines. Along with the regular interaction with our treatment team of nurses and counselors, our longer acting medications, Methadone and Suboxone®, restore balance to the brain and allow a dependent patient to focus on repairing their life and engaging in healthy activities. Both medications are daily, synthetic, long-acting opioid medications which eliminate withdrawal symptoms and decreases both physical and psychological cravings while eliminating the sensation of “getting high”. Both are FDA approved medication for treatment of opioid dependence. Almost every insurance company covers these treatments.
Methadone is the most widely used medication for the treatment of opiate addiction over the last 60 years.
Suboxone® contains both buprenorphine and naloxone and is placed under the tongue and dissolves in minutes. Patients may easily earn take-home privileges of a 30 day prescription if they show progress in treatment. Buprenorphine is the primary active ingredient in Suboxone®. It strongly binds to opioid receptors in our bodies and makes it much harder for other opioid medications to bind to those receptors.
Naloxone (Narcan) in Suboxone® is not active when dissolved under the tongue but when Suboxone is abused by IV injection the Naloxone helps prevent opiate overdoses and abuse by actively displacing the other opiates from those receptors.
